ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Methanex is currently seeking a full-time Asset Integrity Summer Student to join the team in Medicine Hat, AB. This is a temporary, summer position commencing in May 2024 through to the end of August 2024. It is open to students who are currently enrolled in post-secondary studies and will be returning to studies upon completion of the summer term. This position is based on 9/80 compressed work schedule.
Working under the guidance of the Chief Inspector, the Asset Integrity Summer Student works with the Inspections team to ensure the integrity of all pressure equipment on site. The Asset Integrity Student will be mentored by other inspection personnel and will gain hands-on experience in the integrity industry.

Some responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Inspection team with site maintenance activities, technical writing, inspection data entry and various administrative responsibilities
  • Coordinate Nondestructive Examinations (NDE) and Inspection contractors to perform inspections throughout the facility
  • Assist in building quality control packages for field work and shop fabrication in compliance with all ABSA requirements
  • Witness pressure testing of new pressure equipment and repaired pressure equipment
  • Assist with walkdowns of field equipment, corrosion monitoring data and periodic assessments of static equipment
  • Receive recently serviced pressure relief devices in accordance with the Methanex pressure equipment integrity manual
  • Receive and track all Material Test Reports and verify to with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section II
  • Participate on special projects as assigned
  • Adhere to all Methanex health, safety, and environmental policies
