DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Understanding and preparation of monthly GST returns.
- Fixed assets maintenance, processing of monthly additions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes and procedures.
- Great problem-solving skills.
- Strong experience with communication and working with internal and external stakeholders and building relationships.
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to follow processes and procedures.
- Ability to work autonomously within a team environment.
- Studying towards CPA/CA
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an opportunity for a talented and dedicated Assistant Accountant to work closely with the Financial Accountant and key stakeholders across the business. In this role you will be working closely with accounts payable and receivable teams, will be the go-to person from a processing point of view, assisting the financial accountant with end of month tasks and assist with annual audit as requested by the financial accountant and the senior managers of the finance team.
As the Assistant Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
- Overall understanding of Bank Reconciliation, Accounts Payable and Receivable processes.
- Retail sales reconciliation, journal preparation, and posting to TechOne.
- GST reconciliation and preparation for lodgement to ATO.
- Fixed Assets maintenance (additions, disposal, and depreciation).
- Assistance in end of month reconciliation.
- Assistance in year end and annual audit queries as required.
- Systems savvy and assist with changes to be made to financial reports as required, including: maintenance of GL codes and ensuring it flows to financial reporting systems.
- Assisting other team members on accounts payable and receivable team members.
- Provide backup as required in finance team
This a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week.
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in an accounting, finance, business, or related discipline
- Minimum of three years’ experience in month end, year-end, fixed assets, and systems maintenance.
- Experience with Technology One or similar accounting package.
- Experience with Purchase Order systems.
- Demonstrated high level skills using Microsoft Office Suite, mainly excel (intermediate to advance level)
