We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team in Melbourne. This role will provide accounting support to finance team members and other employees, and supporting the end-to-end accounts payable and payroll functions throughout the organisation.

The role will report to the Chief Financial Officer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Setup clients and suppliers in Financial Systems.
  • Process bank transactions, allocate receipts and payments for the purposes of completing bank reconciliations.
  • Review progress claims assisting with daily generating of client invoices.
  • Complete BAS reporting by due dates.
  • Recording of bank guarantees and following up the return of bank guarantees promptly.
  • Create and maintain supplier/client information, ensuring all details are correct and confirmed with the supplier via a phone call conversation.
  • Take all possible measures to mitigate business risks, regarding to payment and email fraud.
  • Act as the liaison point for the company on supplier and team member financial enquiries or issues.
  • Ensure accurate end-to-end payroll in accordance with legislation, awards and internal policies and procedures for assigned entities.
  • Manage all relevant State and Federal tax obligations including PAYG tax, Payroll tax and Superannuation Guarantees.
  • Other tasks as outlined in the position description or reasonably required.

Successful applicants must have:

  • Bookkeeping or similar type program
  • 5-10 years’ experience in bookkeeping or general accounting
  • Ability to negotiate effectively and manage difficult conversations
  • High attention to detail
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Great communication skills
  • Demonstrate skills in accounting programs
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end Accounts Payable and Payroll processes
  • Solid knowledge of MYOB Advanced or similar accounting systems, Buildlogic or similar project financials systems, and Microsoft 365, specifically Microsoft Excel is preferred
