An opportunity is now available for a career-minded individual to join us in Mediterranean Shipping Company South East Asia (Singapore) Pte Ltd, as Assistant Accounts Manager, Receivable.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum Diploma or Degree in Accountancy / Finance, ACCA or Professional Accounting qualification equivalent;
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in accounts receivables and credit control;
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience leading a team;
  • Experience in shipping / freight forwarding industry an added advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint;
  • Experience in using SAP financial system and related data flow;
  • Good knowledge of IFRS, SFRS, tax laws and systems preferred;
  • Good command in written and verbal English language for effective communication;
  • High level of Integrity and Ethics;
  • Organised and possess strong analytical skills with an eye for details;
  • Ability to manage time well to meet tight deadlines and multi-task;
  • Able to work under stress and adaptable to changes;
  • Self-initiative individual who can work well in a team.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Assistant Accounts Manager, Receivable you will join a dynamic team responsible for the financial reports and management reporting for the South East Asia (SEA) region, as well as maintaining and executing financial controls in compliance with Company policies, Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Accounts Manager, Receivable, Senior Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer, your main responsibility is to lead and develop a team of direct reports to oversee the functions of Accounts Receivable which includes timely billing and collections, disputes management, refund and submission of Accounts Receivables related reports. Ensure that credit control assessments, including new credit customer applications assessment, bi-annual and annual credit review and temporary increase of credit limit review are carried out in a timely manner. Manage and support other AR related activities, including process improvements.

Your key responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure that e-mails with customer, ports, agencies, Asia Regional Office and HQ are replied timely and issues/disputes for billing and collection are resolved/brought up to the relevant parties expeditiously;
  • Ensure that customers’ outstanding is collected timely;
  • Ensure that collections are recorded in SAP timely;
  • Ensure that refunds are correctly processed;
  • Ensure that invoices are raised timely;
  • Assess creditworthiness of new customer and propose the appropriate credit limits and period to be granted;
  • Carry out mid-year and annual customer credit assessment;
  • Ensure that customer details and credit limits are accurately maintained in SAP Debtor Master Data;
  • Ensure that all adjustments and reversal entries are valid and supported;
  • Collaborate with other functional teams and departments for compliance of internal controls and effective risks mitigation;
  • Related tasks as assigned, including back-up to other team members during their absence.
