Adult Social Care encompasses a wide range of vital services covering:

  • Social Work Services - we work with individuals who have care and support needs, and with their carers be they older or younger adults.
  • Occupational Therapy and Equipment Services - we aim to enhance people’s ability to live safely and independently in their home.
  • Internally Provided Services – we provide direct support to people enabling those in most need to live independent and fulfilled lives.
  • Business Systems and Continuous Improvement - we provide a range of services including Financial Assessments, provider payment processing and Business Systems administration. The Business Systems team provide support to Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Education Services.

What is the job role?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and busy administrative team at Coventry City Council. We are looking to appoint an individual who is highly organised, efficient, and competent to manage the administration processes within the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team (DoLS). You will be able to work under pressure to strict deadlines with attention to detail in a busy reactive environment. Previous experience of working in a social care setting is beneficial, but not essential.
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team is a diverse team staffed by qualified Social Workers / Best Interest Assessors (BIA’s). Working under the Mental Capacity Act their role is to assess citizens who lack decision making capacity regarding their care arrangements in care homes and hospital settings, and where necessary implement the statutory legal framework of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and provide an inclusive service.
As the Assistant Administrator in the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team you will provide high quality administrative and general office support to The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards process, team and individuals. You will be joining the team at a time of proposed changes in the Mental Capacity Act legislation and the shift from the current Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards to the proposed Liberty Protection Safeguards.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?

To be successful in the role you will need the following.

  • Undertake a full range of clerical tasks to support the work of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team
  • The ability to learn and understand the essential elements of the Mental Capacity Act and requirements of the DoLS process.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent IT skills and ability to monitor and maintain IT systems including Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Ability to work across multiple IT systems.
  • Ability to input and monitor data to produce accurate data/statistics.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise the admin team’s workload.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexibly if situations change and tasks need to be reprioritised.
  • Ability to deal with enquiries, through varying mediums (e.g. Face to Face, Telephone & Email)
  • Ability to undertake data input and document production using the range of systems in use within the organisation including reports and minutes.

You will get the opportunity to demonstrate your skills through a short assessment followed by a panel interview.
