Description:
Overview:
The Assistant Airfield Manager is responsible for the daily management of airport employees, ensuring smooth operations, and maintaining high standards of professionalism. This role requires an in-depth knowledge of PWS requirements, compliance with company policies, and effective use of V2X information platforms. The manager will also oversee the preparation, maintenance, and updating of procedures and manuals, ensuring employees are trained and skilled in their respective areas.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team at Pituffik Air Base, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the airport while fostering a positive and professional work environment.
Minimum Qualifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- Education and Training:
- Completed AM-002 PCG’s.
- Completed AM CBT’s and Advanced Distributed Learning Service.
- Leadership training is an advantage.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience with airport management.
- Solid management experience, minimum 3 years.
- Skills and Competencies:
- English Language Level 3 (Danish language skills a bonus).
- Driver’s license B.
- Good cooperation skills and organizational understanding.
- Excellent communication skills at multiple levels.
- Open-minded leader who practices cooperation.
- Flexible and able to compromise.
- Sees opportunities and challenges instead of limitations and problems.
- Desire to familiarize oneself with new work tasks as required

- Management and Supervision:
- Daily management of airport employees, ensuring the airport functions as expected.
- Ensure employees conduct themselves professionally and that work tasks are maintained at all times.
- Plan holidays to ensure continuous operation.
- Prepare proposals for optimizing and streamlining operations.
- Ensure the use of selected technologies and solutions for departmental tasks.
- Report deviations to Management.
- Training and Development:
- Ensure department employees have necessary skills and qualifications.
- Ensure cross-training for employees in their areas of responsibility.
- Organize various staff interviews.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and working environment procedures, instructions, and guidelines.
- Ensure work is carried out safely.
- Maintain loyalty towards V2X.
- Communication and Cooperation:
- Foster good communication and cooperation with other departments.
- Stay informed about work-related matters through V2X information platforms.
- Leadership and Decision-Making:
- Act as a visible, welcoming, and open leader with the ability to act when needed.
- Capable of leading employees and USAF, maintaining a broad sense of service.
- Handle multiple tasks while maintaining a comprehensive overview.
- Disciplinary Actions:
- Ability to reprimand employees written and orally without prior approval for serious incidents or repeated unprofessional misconduct.
- Open cases with the Personnel Committee for repeated or serious incidents.
- Approve unpaid vacations for employees.
