Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Forest and Land Scotland (FLS) are looking for a Civil Engineer to manage the team and programme of work in Central Scotland. We are responsible for managing public land in the Trossachs, across Cowal and around Loch Lomond and the towns in the Central belt.
You will support and manage the team which plans and builds new roads and bridges, identifies and manages quarry sites and supports the implementation of recreation infrastructure. The role has its challenges – we have to tackle working on steep slopes, along coasts, in highly designated areas and in iconic locations. You will provide technical support, ensuring that design solutions are workable and cost effective, and help to ensure that the team manage contracts and budgets professionally.
If you enjoy managing a team and providing technical leadership, relish the challenge of working in a fast moving environment, care about adaptation to climate change and effective management of land for multiple benefits, then this could be the job for you.

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will directly manage the team of 4 civil engineers and oversee 3 site supervisors, providing leadership, coordinating work programmes, helping to manage budgets and supporting your team to plan, procure and manage contracts.
Projects include new roads, upgrades and maintenance, but also quarries, bridges, car parks and forest trails. Planning and design needs to take into account the climate emergency, such as increased water runoff and slope stabilisation, and you will be expected to promote innovation and best practice.
Our projects are delivered by external contract secured through Scottish Government procurement. The site works are delivered using NEC3 and NEC4 Term Service Short Contracts and Engineering and Construction Short Contracts.
