Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Theology

Role: Christ College at Concordia University Irvine invites applications for a full-time faculty member in theology at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor beginning July 1, 2024. The faculty member will teach undergraduate theology courses in Concordia’s Enduring Questions and Ideas Curriculum as well as upper division and/or graduate courses. The faculty member will also engage in theological scholarship, provide service to the university, and represent the Lutheran theological tradition within the university community. The strongest candidates will be those who have completed an earned doctorate in an appropriate theological discipline and are prepared to teach graduate level courses in Biblical exegesis, systematic theology, or theological ethics. The ability and willingness to carry out part-time administrative roles is also desired.
Qualifications: Only candidates who are currently ordained ministers in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, or who will be eligible for ordination by the time of the appointment, will be considered for this position. This position requires Synodical prior approval per bylaw 3.10.6.7.3 (2019 LCMS Handbook).
