DESCRIPTION
The Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science at the University of Alberta is inviting applications for the tenure-track position Assistant/Associate Professor in Dietetics and Nutritional Science.
The successful candidate will join the academic team that is responsible for the delivery of the Dietetics Specialization within the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences and the College of Natural and Applied Sciences at the University of Alberta. The successful candidate will be expected to lead and curate the dietetics specialization curriculum so that it meets and exceeds the academic programming competencies for dietetics as an accredited health professional program. The successful candidate will chair the Dietetics Specialization Management Committee, which is responsible for leading and maintaining the Dietetics Specialization curriculum within the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science degree program, for recommending admissions and enrollment, for facilitating accreditation with accrediting organizations, and for ensuring the fit of the integrated internship within the Dietetics Specialization. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining academic and clinical relationships both internal and external to the University and be the lead point of contact for the specialization.
Qualified candidates must hold a PhD in Human Nutrition or a relevant discipline and must be a Registered Dietitian eligible for membership with the College of Dietitians of Alberta. The successful candidate will have a strong record of teaching accomplishment, a sound understanding of numerous disciplines associated with Dietetics, and demonstrated ability to conduct research. The candidate is expected to teach at all levels of the curriculum, from undergraduate to graduate level courses, lead curriculum development and contribute to academic program planning, establish an independent research program, and take on other supervisory, service, and administrative work. The successful candidate will be an ambassador for teaching best practice and forge strong collaborative networks with other key partners and organizations at the University of Alberta, such as the Alberta Diabetes Institute, the Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI), as well as external groups such as Alberta Health Services and the associated Strategic Clinical Network(s) in Alberta.
