POSITION SUMMARY

The Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design at Indiana University Bloomington seeks dynamic and enthusiastic colleagues for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Painting to begin in fall 2024. The Eskenazi School is dedicated to a faculty composed of diverse scholars and practitioners who demonstrate excellence in their field. The successful candidate will share the values we try to cultivate in our students: to be equitable, curious, collaborative, and adaptable to a global art world. We seek applicants whose portfolios and research address the broad-ranging topics in contemporary art. We welcome applicants working in conventional and expanded approaches to the medium including: traditional techniques, mixed media, conceptual approaches, fiber-based techniques, digital hybrids, and other non-traditional methods.
The ideal candidate should have a strong national and international exhibition record, be an advocate for the exploration of multiple strategies in the studio classroom, and be familiar with a range of theories and practices related to painting.
Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting an active research agenda, participating in group and individual critiques, assisting in maintaining the studio environment, providing service to the area, school, university, profession and community, actively pursuing grants and fellowships, and maintaining and pursuing professional and academic expertise. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must have an MFA or equivalent terminal degree, a strong national and international exhibition record, a minimum of two years of college-level teaching experience beyond graduate school, and evidence of potential for excellence in teaching painting at all levels. Professional experience and service to the profession is also desired.
