JOB DESCRIPTION

The Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position to contribute to the teaching, scholarship, and service expectations of a Physical Therapy faculty role. This opportunity is for a 12-month full-time tenure or non-tenure track, which is commensurate with experience. Candidates with academic terminal degrees may negotiate for a tenure-track position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Terminal professional DPT degree
  • Possess or be eligible for an active license in Physical Therapy in the United States and in the State of Idaho
  • At least 3 years of clinical practice experience as a physical therapist
  • Evidence of scholarship or scholarly endeavors
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering a diverse and inclusive educational or clinical environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced academic doctorate degree (PhD, DSc, EdD, or equivalent)
  • APTA Board Specialist Certification or Post-graduate specialization in expertise
  • Minimum 3-year experience of teaching in higher education or a formal continuing education program
  • Teaching in area of physical therapy specialty area
  • Evidence of research/scholarship in physical therapy specialty area
  • Evidence of contribution to curriculum design and evaluation
  • Experience in program evaluation
  • Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teamwork

Additional Information

Salary will be between $80,000 - $85,000 (non-tenure track) $85,000 - $95,000 (tenure track) per year, commensurate with education and experience. Responsibilities:

  • Teaching
  • Develop, organize, and deliver course content as assigned related to clinical expertise in line with the physical therapy program curriculum, which may include coordination and collaboration with other faculty to assure curriculum cohesiveness
  • Teach courses related to kinesiology/biomechanics, musculoskeletal management/orthopedics, neuromuscular, or geriatric physical therapy
  • Contribute to other program education needs

  • Develop and conduct a scholarly agenda that promotes the advancement of knowledge of Physical Therapy
  • Engage in interdisciplinary scholarship activities
  • Provide research mentorship and facilitate engagement for non-tenure (clinical) faculty in research
