Description:

SOME KEY INFORMATION

  • Front line role based at Taunton library and there is no option for working from home.
  • 16.25 hours per week on a two week rota.
  • The hours follow a set pattern due to opening and closing the library.
  • Leave 25 days per annum (pro rata for part time/fixed term contracts)
  • Temporary fixed term contract until 31st December 2024
    What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Being a proactive and reliable assistant caretaker, helping to assist our customers and staff team in providing a safe and welcoming library environment.
  • Working with the operations, development and facilities teams to ensure the building is functioning properly, setting up the library for daily events, activities and meetings. Opening and securing the building. Cleaning duties are part of this role.
  • Patrolling the library, transporting goods and undertaking minor DIY repairs.
  • Please note: Weekend working (alternate Saturday’s) is an essential part of this role.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • Experience of working with the public in a frontline customer service or similar environment.
  • Experience of working within a team. The ability to be flexible in tasks and working hours.
  • Good basic DIY skills and cleaning experience.
  • Experience dealing with challenging individuals, and are able to respond in a calm manner. Training will be provided.

The salary for this tole is £9,985 to £10,151 per annum for 16.25 hours per week
