Responsibilities:
Mount Royal University Aviation is looking to expand its team of professional and experienced flight instructors, as we are increasing our student intake numbers for the Diploma program and launching our new Degree program. We offer high quality instruction to students seeking a career in the aviation industry, whether as pilots or in areas of aviation management. Our flight instructors not only teach in the aircraft, but also in the simulator, and occasionally ground school classes as well. All instructors will be expected to teach lessons from PPL through to Multi-IFR, once they are appropriately trained, and to have some administrative responsibilities in addition to working on the flight line. We employ our instructors on a full-time (40 hours/week), salaried basis. We are open seven days a week, year-round with flight operations normally scheduled from 0730 until 0030. The successful candidates for this position can expect to work some evenings and / or weekends, with an opportunity to change schedules after a few months.
The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor (ACFI) will work with the CFI and two additional ACFIs. As the CFI is also the Director, much assistance is required from the ACFIs to manage daily operations in a safe and effective manner. This role includes supervision of other instructors, assigning tasks to others, and providing positive continual improvements to the aviation program. The 3 ACFIs share the responsibility of the ’on-call’ person throughout the week on particular days. There may be some requirements to provide support to instructors over the phone after hours. The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $10,000 / year in addition to the annual salary.
This is a 2-year limited-term position, with the potential for renewal and/or change to ongoing appointment thereafter.
