Spotsylvania County, Fredericksburg Cityand Stafford County YMCA SACC are looking for childcare workers to join our team for the 2023-24 school year. Our ideal candidate is attentive, punctual, and engaged.
Job Title: SACC Assistant Child Care Manager
Location: Spotsylvania YMCA SACC or Stafford County YMCA SACC
Job Type: Part Time Work
Pay: $21/hr
Hours: 6am-8:30am and 3pm-6:30pm with occassional meetings and trainings outside these hours

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position offers the opportunity to work with School Aged Children both Before and After School. Our program operates out of all 17 elementary schools in Spotsylvania County.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state licensing requirements of program director. *One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs. *Program experience in a group care for children. *Must be at least 21 years old. *Within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; State Licensing Training Requirements; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens. *Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. *Completes Praesidium within 7 days of hire date. *Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. *Understands the YMCA is a public accommodation committed to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

*Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time. *Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. *Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight. *Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. *Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time. *Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking. *Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate. *Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency *Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time. *The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Saturdays. Compensation is $20.00 - $21.00/hour.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervises the school age child care programs for assigned location(s). Ensures high quality programs.
  2. Supports YMCA healthy eating and physical activities standards through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality
  3. Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  4. Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  5. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  6. Reports all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner to Child Care Manager.
  7. Maintains proper records/department files.
  8. Attends staff meetings and trainings.
  9. Assists in special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
  10. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
