Description:
WORK QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE OF THE ASSISTANT CONTROLLER:
Fully qualified candidates will possess the following attributes:
- An undergraduate accounting or finance degree is required.
- Active CPA required; public accounting experience
- Approximately 15+ years of total career experience.
- Energetic, collaborative self-starter that has a “hands-on” approach and curious mindset.
- Motivated by and thrives in a fast-paced and high-caliber environment with frequent ad hoc requests and changing priorities.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC financial reporting, and management reporting and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills: able to quickly establish a personal brand within the organization to drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Able to focus on the overall objective for a given process or accounting area, while at the same time able to dive into transactional detail if needed to resolve questions or issues.
- Insightful, able to identify trends and themes for continuous improvement across the teams.

Compensation for the successful candidate will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Components include a base salary, an incentive bonus, and long-term equity incentive compensation. This position is relocation-eligible.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the SEC reporting processes, including compiling, reviewing, and coordinating the issuance of quarterly and annual financial reports on Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and 11-K.
- Guide the early assessment for and related implementation of new accounting pronouncements, related disclosures, and other GAAP/SEC implementation issues, including the rollout of training.
- Oversee the drafting and maintenance of financial policies and procedures for company-wide use.
- Assist Segment CFOs, Segment Technical Accounting Group, and operating companies with various technical accounting and reporting items, including purchase price allocations for acquisitions and accounting for dispositions.
- Develop and disseminate accounting and reporting training and best practices across the Company as necessary.
- Oversee Corporate Accounting activities and controls, including monthly close, corporate financials, Health & Welfare accounting, pension & postretirement accounting, deferred compensation, share-based compensation, insurance, incentive accruals, long-term debt, software capitalization, share repurchases, cash, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable, legal and environmental accruals, allocations, Board of Director expense reporting, Foundation accounting, and Government reporting/surveys.
- Support Our client’s finance transformation efforts.
- Monitor developments in SEC rulemaking, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with Corporate FP&A and Investor Relations to ensure consistency of reporting.
- Work closely, effectively, and efficiently with Internal Audit and the independent auditor.
