JOB SUMMARY:

As an Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for providing financial oversight to the Service, Install, and Equipment business. This role also serves as a consultant for business unit leadership and managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information and working with managers to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals and success of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary education in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA or CMA a plus
  • 5+ years of financial and accounting related experience
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a service/project accounting environment
  • Previous working experience in a private business setting with emphasis on maintaining proper GAAP accounting principles and practices
  • Proven track record of driving financial results
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques
  • Team lead/management experience- day-to-day, training, mentorship, development
  • Experience with manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting a large amount of data (MS Excel)
  • Knowledge of AccPacc, NetSuite, or other ERP systems
  • Annual Salary: $90,000
  • In-Office Position located in Ajax, Ontario

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising the accounting procedures of the local business unit
  • Analyze and assess the financial performance of the local business unit
  • Responsible for the development of policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance
  • Advise management on matters of fiscal procedure and importance for the organization
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with the financial procedures of the organization
  • Help manage and oversee the daily finance and accounting operations of the business including:
  • Month-end and year-end process
  • Accounts payable/receivable
  • General ledger accounting
  • Cash forecasting
  • Revenue and expenditure variance analysis
  • Payroll Journal Entries
  • Forecasting
  • Annual budgeting/planning process
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
  • Help establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
  • Assist with improving systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Provide leadership in understanding the manufacturing operations of the business units and helping to monitor relevant KPIs to drive operational excellence
  • Comply with all applicable OHSA, ESA, and other provincial regulatory laws, as well as company safety policies
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Leadership team
