Description:

This Assistant Controller position is a long-term contract / temporary employment opportunity and is based in San Francisco, California. Self-starters who combine a real passion for analytics with strong technical skills might be interested in this position.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Maintain accounting and reporting policies
  • Supervise financial executive package and control book on a monthly basis to include budget to actual comparisons by department

Finish month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes, as well as financial statements

  • Supervise and drive external financial audits
  • Oversee treasure functions to ensure timely payment for vendors and maintain accuracy of cash forecasts
  • Provide GAAP mentorship for technical accounting, external reporting, and support to the Company

Other responsibilities may also include participating in system improvements, impromptu analyses, and special projects as assigned

  • Ensure account reconciliations/analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts are properly prepared and maintained
  • Supply external monthly and quarterly reporting packages to Board meeting decks
  • Assist in developing the accounting team, which includes staffing, performance management, and training
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
  • Consumer packaged goods industry experience required
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to anticipate needs and pre-plan work
  • Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
  • Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize work
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • US GAAP experience highly desired
  • Cost accounting experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger
  • Strong familiarity with month end closings
  • Consolidations experience preferred
  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills
