SUMMARY

Responsible for all bookkeeping functions, statement preparation, account reconciliations, general accounting and system controls. Promotes and follows LJBTC, Inc.’s Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Business/Accounting; or five related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the month end closing of the accounts to prepare the financial statements on a timely basis. In addition, the accurate and timely preparation of managerial reports and statements; preparation of various analysis, statements and reports as requested.
  • Monitor all company activities to ensure that all tax and regulatory rules are being adhered to ensure that all tax forms are prepared accurately and on a timely basis and submitted with the payment to the appropriate government authority. Liaison with government tax auditors to assist them in their responsibilities, provide access to books of record, ensuring that the company’s best interests are represented.
  • Ensure all bank accounts are reconciled monthly. Ensure all sub schedules for receivables and payables balance to the balance sheet accounts; all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and all corrections are posted with approval of the CEO/Controller.
  • Ensure that established systems of internal controls are adhered to and work with company and accounting staff to correct where necessary. With the CEO and department heads, work to improve systems and internal controls with the goal of ensuring cost effectiveness.
  • On a daily basis supervise accounting staff to ensure that their responsibilities are being carried out correctly and efficiently. Answer questions to staff in terms of dealing with arising issues and correcting problems.
  • Strive to improve the quality and the cost effectiveness of all accounting department operations; operations of all aspects of the company’s activities.
  • Liaison with company management and department heads to better serve guests and other staff.
  • Through courses, trade publications and memberships in accounting and hotel organizations, keep up-to-date on all tax, legal and accounting issues to best serve the company.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises subordinates in the Accounting, Information Services, and Purchasing. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
