Description:

Cambridge University Botanic Garden is a 40 acre historic garden which is home to an internationally important and diverse collection of over 8000 plant species from across the world. The Botanic Garden is part of the University’s School of Biological Sciences and combines its role as a research and teaching facility for the University and the global botanical research community with that of public outreach and engagement. An important amenity, the Garden is enjoyed by over 350,000 visitors annually and has more than 8,000 Friends.
Reporting to the Director, the postholder is a member of the Garden’s Senior Leadership team with overall responsibility for the Garden’s commercial and fundraising activities.

They will:

  • play a key role in setting overall strategy for commercial enterprise and philanthropic fundraising within the Garden
  • demonstrate an enthusiasm for, and commitment to, the Garden’s core mission
  • be responsible for ensuring that the Garden’s commercial operations and philanthropic income grow to sustain and support its wider goals and that the Garden’s wider profile and reputation reflects its goals and ambitions
  • demonstrate a successful track record in securing both unrestricted and restricted philanthropic funding and commercial partnerships in their current and recent career
