Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • The individual will be responsible for communicating investment insight for Japanese Equities and providing some back up from time to time to Asian/GEM Equities.
  • The role is embedded within the Eastspring Japan Equity investment team, a leading investment franchise at the firm catering to external and internal clients.
  • The individual will gain intimate knowledge of all key aspects of our value-biased investment process and work to understand key investment process drivers, in addition to portfolio holdings, fund performance, investment mandates, risk characteristics, fund strategy, performance attribution, competitor analysis, and more.
  • The individual will communicate the investment messages for responsible strategies/funds and ensure the needs of internal and external clients are met.
  • The individual will work closely with respective internal teams including Investment Heads, Sales and Investment Marketing teams, and other CPMs, to help prepare presentation materials, reports, request-for-proposals, and information packs for clients, consultants, distribution channels, and others.
  • The individual will work closely with distribution offices to strategically position Japan Equity capabilities and engage directly with clients, including internal and external institutional clients, consultants, wholesale banks, IFAs and agency force distributors and other clients as required.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • The individual must be able to fulfil client needs and provide fund manager and client support.
  • They must have the ability to work closely with the Head of Japanese Equities, other fund managers and CPMs, and drive effective collaboration across these groups, and externally, to ensure consistent and correct investment messages are communicated.
  • The candidate should have at least 10-20 years of experience in the investment industry, with a strong understanding of capital markets and the fund management business.
  • The candidate should be a team player, possess strong communication skills and be confident communicating with internal and external audiences. This is ultimately a client facing role and engagement with sophisticated institutional clients is expected once the individual is sufficiently fluent with the investment process and portfolios.
  • The individual must possess excellent writing skills and be able to produce writing samples to support this competency.

ADDITIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Attend assigned investment team meetings and conduct additional markets related research to help support the investment team’s views.
  • Help write and edit fund/mandate commentaries for regular reporting for Japan Equity strategies.
  • Craft responses to client queries from various channels about products/strategies.
  • In cooperation with sales, help lead new business development opportunities from initial stage discussions/RFP responses/pitches/follow-up information/due diligence reviews.
  • For existing clients, be involved in the service process including providing ad hoc information, answer client questions, provide supporting materials, and help represent the investment team in account review sessions.
  • Liaise with Sales, Marketing and Product teams to help position different strategies in the market.
  • Address Sales needs on product related write up (insights / talking points / brochures).
  • Produce fund insights and assist Portfolio Managers with institutional quality “Thought Pieces”.
  • Work with Portfolio Specialists and Sales to create and maintain Institutional pitchbooks.
  • Be aware of key strategy competitors and work with Sales teams and Product to produce competitor analysis as necessary.
  • Help guide and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Generate Aladdin holdings reports and ESG reporting information.
  • Complete Quarterly Post Compliance Reviews.
  • Attend and participate in other firm-level product related workshops, CPM meetings, Sales meetings, training sessions and product-development sessions.
