Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance reports to the Director of Athletics and serves as a member of the Department’s Senior Management Team. This position oversees the Compliance operations for a 16-sport Division 1 athletics program competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. This Compliance Director is responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all policies and procedures relative to a comprehensive NCAA Division 1 rules compliance program. This includes, but is not limited to: recruiting; eligibility; financial aid; playing and practice seasons; student-athlete employment; amateurism; extra benefits and all required reporting documents and other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • The Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance is responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals and mission of the University and the Department of Athletics and well as adherence to Departmental, University, MAAC, ECAC and NCAA policies and procedures.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Extensive experience with knowledge of and commitment to Division 1 NCAA rules compliance required. Familiarity with policy issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics and higher education preferred.
  • Ability to design, implement and manage administrative systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Ability to direct and perform detailed work with accuracy under time pressures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to interact with diverse groups.
  • Experience with computer applications (Microsoft Office, CAi, ARMS, etc.).

  • Willing to work nights and weekends in support of scheduled events are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physically demanding job include (required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects of a regular basis, do repetitive tasks with few breaks, and so forth).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of athletic policies and procedures including financial aid, gender equity, personnel, facilities and sports programs.
  • Administers, maintains and updates the CAi system.
  • Conducts rules education programs for coaches, student-athletes, institutional administrators and staff, boosters and local community members.
  • Provides necessary information for required compliance audits.
  • Assists in the athlete business in reconciliations of officials visits and other compliance related reimbursements.
  • Provides pre-approval on business documents related to coaches recruiting and team travel from an NCAA compliance standpoint.
  • Coordinates monthly athletic department compliance staff meetings.
  • Communicates with the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative on APR and GSR data.
  • Administer the Student-Athlete Assistance Fund (SAF) and the Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund (SAOF).
  • Serves on campus-wide committees representing the Athletics Department.
  • Serves as a sport administrator, as assigned by the Athletic Director.
  • Attends contests and serves as game administrator, as assigned by the Athletic Director.
  • Attend all required MAAC, NCAA, and NJAIAW meetings as necessary.
