Description:

    Our government client is seeking to engage a highly skilled Assistant Director of Legal to join their Corporate Operations Branch.

As an Assistant Director of Legal, your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage the Legal function for the department, providing expertise, advice, and direction in all legal matters to ensure:
  • policies, procedures, and processes are in line with legislation and best practice.
  • the implementation of relevant recommendations from internal and external reviews are prioritised.
  • productive working relationships are developed and maintained with all employees.
  • a strong focus on education and training and the promotion and support of a safe and inclusive workplace, and
  • the provision of professional and timely responses to all legal and conduct issues.
  • Manage and develop a team of legal and HR professionals that work in sync with the department’s direction and strategic priorities.

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • be admitted, or eligible to be admitted, as a legal practitioner of the High Court of Australia or a Supreme Court of a State or Territory
  • hold, or be eligible to obtain, a restricted government practicing certificate in the ACT.
