EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must possess a Master’s degree in education, human resources development, or five years of a related field and be eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License. Must possess experience as a teacher and school administrator, central office leader, or other leadership experience including some experience instructing adults. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with school and central office leadership, professional development learning committees, and School Division employees to identify professional learning needs;
  • Collaborates with the Director of Professionals to utilizes the PDSA cycle to establish professional learning priorities based on VDOE and Division initiatives, needs assessments, student outcomes, and additional feedback, and updates the ACPS professional learning framework as warranted;
  • Co-constructs pragmatic and impactful strategies to address key organizational development needs by designing, implementing, and maintaining professional learning programs;
  • Supports the implementation of a comprehensive and systematic professional learning program for all Division employees;
  • Supports the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications plan to engage school division constituencies in professional learning activities;
  • Supports the development of new hire engagement through orientation and long-term onboarding programs, increasing the results of professional learning initiatives to employee self-efficacy and retention;
  • Researches, coordinates, develops, and designs instructor-led and virtual learning offerings;
  • Supports the Director of Professional Learning in the management, preparation, and execution of learning programs by designing appropriate resources; such as course materials, guides, and training procedures;
  • Researches and identifies additional funding sources;
  • Manages the functionality, and utilization of professional learning management systems and websites;
  • Develops and maintains an annual calendar of professional learning events and programs;
  • Collaborates with the Director of Professional Learning, hires, develops, and supervises the Instructional Coaches;
  • Maintains currency in the field through research and participation in regional, state, and national professional development activities;
  • May represent the division in local, state, and national professional learning organizations;
  • Collaborates and connects with, builds trust with, and influences team members at all levels;
  • Supports instructional coaches as they work with teachers to enhance teaching practices, improve student learning outcomes, and promote professional development;
  • Collaborates with the Director of Professional Learning to oversee a team of instructional coaches, providing mentorship, support, and guidance in their professional development;
  • Supports regular team meetings to discuss coaching strategies, share best practices, and address challenges;
  • Ensures clear expectations and performance goals for instructional coaches and provides ongoing feedback and evaluation;
  • Collaborates with the Director of Professional Learning to develop and facilitate training sessions and workshops for instructional coaches to enhance their coaching skills, content knowledge, and understanding of instructional strategies; Fosters positive relationships with administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to promote a collaborative coaching culture
  • Other duties as assigned
