Description:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Master’s Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education or related field from an accredited institution required
- One to three years’ experience with case management, student conduct, or related student affairs experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated experience with, and sensitivity to, individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and a commitment to a diverse community
- Ability to work effectively with students in distress; building engagement, assessing needs, and implementing action plans
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Adept with databases and digital systems
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Knowledge of student development theory and an understanding of current trends in case management and student conduct
- Ability to effectively manage a significant caseload, with multiple responsibilities an deadlines
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide case management to students of concern. Initiate outreach and provide guidance, support, and referrals to resources. Develop behavioral intervention plans with students and families. Advocate as needed for students in need of services and resources. Provide direct support to student who decide to take a medical leave of absence. Explain the process to students and families, process paperwork upon onset of the leave and return from the leave. Maintain contact with students while they are on leave and serve as the first point of contact when they are ready to return.
- Support the work of the College’s CARE Team. Assist with meetings and trainings. Engage in effective communication with the CARE Team to prepare agendas, follow-up on action plans, and keep key personnel informed. Maintain records in the CARE Team database and other confidential paper and digital files. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key constituents.
- Provide psycho-educational training to different staff constituents on recognizing signs of student in distress/of concern. Coordinate various health and prevention education programs with a focus on student wellness and success. Collaborate with various student groups and assist with larger campus initiatives (i.e. Mental Health Awareness Month).
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Dean of Students Office. Serve as a key staff member to address general concerns, direct individuals to the appropriate resources, and provide appropriate guidance to students, faculty, staff, and families. Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Clery Act, and ensure the appropriate, timely, and accurate reporting of crimes on campus. Serve as a Mandated Reporter.
