Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Quality and Safeguards Policy Branch is seeking EL1s to join the following sections:

  • Quality and Safeguards Policy
  • NDIS Regulation
  • Disability Accommodation Policy

Assistant Directors drive policy leadership, lead the design and implementation of a policy program and undertake policy development ahead of Budget 2025-26. Duties include:

  • lead and drive (and develop own) policy expertise
  • undertake research and analysis to develop policy position and provide policy advice to government
  • develop contemporary and innovative policy and advice that ensures people with disability can access quality supports and services safely
  • design the policy of budget approved measures to enable implementation
  • build and promote efficient and effective project planning and reporting processes and enabling guidance and tools
  • lead the implementation of a policy program
  • build and maintain stakeholder relationships across government and the sector
  • undertake procurement and manage contracts to support delivery of program implementation, as required
  • coordinate, lead and analyse projects
  • secretariat support and development of governance procedures to support working groups and consultations with stakeholders
  • lead a team to deliver outcomes.

ELIGIBILITY / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for employment with Department of Social Services (the department), you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant’s suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This will include an identity and criminal history background check.
