Description:

About the Position: The Assistant Distribution Center (DC) Manager is responsible for working with the DC Manager to oversee and coordinate all operations of a Distribution Center. Duties include staff training, daily operations of the facility, building rapport with customers and the community, and creating and implementing strategies to improve productivity. If responsible for the sales counter additional responsibilities such as implementing strategies to improve sales performance in efforts to achieve the financial targets and other sales related functioned listed below.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform in stressful and demanding environment
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and develop staff
  • Minimum of 3 years prior supervisory experience desired
  • Minimum of 2 years customer service experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Responsibilities:

TASK AND DUTIES:

  • Assist in the directions of the activities of the DC location from back end to front end of operation, optimizing service levels and managing branch P&L
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the physical inventory, perform physical branch inventories as needed
  • Maintain a qualified staff within defined headcount parameters
  • Manage day to day work, processes, payroll, attendance, time off, evaluations, discipline, hiring decisions, providing training, coaching, development and motivation to improve the branch performance
  • Maintain, and enforce a culture of safety
  • Ensure all work required (including discrepancy processing) is completed efficiently, accurately and timely, including but not limited to receiving, restocking, picking, shipping, returns, inventory management etc.
  • Maintains standards of performance as a basis of review. Foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximizing employee morale and productivity
  • Ensure customers receive efficient and expedient service by all personnel including active involvement with escalated customer issues
  • Must be able to pass certification of training on warehouse equipment where applicable (ie: fork truck, wave picker, pallet jack, etc)
  • Fulfill roles and responsibilities of absent employees as needed including DC manager
  • Assist in maintaining all physical aspects of the building in good working order, including but not limited to racking, MHE, building systems (HVAC etc), work and break rooms, etc and ensuring the company meets all lease obligations.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the physical inventory, perform physical branch inventories as needed
  • Maintain company safety policies
  • Assist in maintaining the building operations to comply with all regulatory obligations, including but not limited to OSHA, HazMat, Federal, State, Provincial and Local regulations
  • Constantly review the set-up of the building and operations to maintain a clean, efficient and safe work environment, including but not limited to slotting, location maintenance, work area flow, etc
  • Maintain relationships with carriers to ensure contracts are honored and vendor performance expectations are clearly communicated and achieved
  • Project a favorable image of the company to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition
  • Adhere to high ethical standards and comply with all regulatory and applicable laws
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster aid and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency
  • Prepare reports including but not limited to Open Transfer, Status 30, inbound/outbound transfer, gateway ledger, etc.
  • Project a favorable image of the company to enhance public recognition

  • Special projects as assigned by management
