The company currently publishes fiction and non-fiction books. It is best known for publishing award-winning titles such as the Eisner Award-winning graphic novel The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye; the middle-grade series The Diary of Amos Lee, which has sold more than 240,000 copies worldwide; and Ministry of Moral Panic , the debut short story collection by Amanda Lee Koe, which won the Singapore Literature Prize for English Fiction. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A relevant undergraduate degree

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

Epigram Books is seeking an Assistant Editor to oversee their non-fiction titles. The Assistant Editor will report to the Managing Editor and be instrumental in acquiring, developing and editing non-fiction works. This role includes participating in our non-fiction commercial acquisitions and contributing to corporate projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee non-fiction titles throughout the editing, design and production phases for both commercial books and corporate commissions
  • Maintain a seamless transition for all non-fiction titles from manuscript to published work
  • Establish and maintain relationships with authors and clients
  • Ensure the publication process for all non-fiction works, commercial and corporate, meets the highest standards of quality and accuracy, staying within budget and deadline
  • Handle all editorial responsibilities, including developmental editing, copy editing, proofreading and copywriting for non-fiction titles across digital and print formats.
  • Acquire, assess and select non-fiction manuscripts for potential publication
  • Help drive business development initiatives and expand our commissioned publishing portfolioCopywrite and check content for sales, marketing and catalogues, maintaining awareness of market trends and competitors
