Job Title: Assistant Group Accountant
Salary: £33,300 - £43,400
Location: Cambridge/Hybrid
Contract: Permanent/Full time (35 hours per week)
As our next Assistant Group Accountant, you will contribute to month-end financial reporting, annual reviews of UK and overseas entities, investigations into any significant variances of the actuals compared to budget, forecast and prior year as well as other ad-hoc projects.

ABOUT YOU

You will be degree qualified in any discipline (or equivalent experience) preferably with a financial background. You will have previous experience within the accounting profession. It is preferred but not essential that you will be qualified or part-qualified with respect to a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA).
As our next Assistant Group Accountant, you will possess a strong eye for detail and a diligent work ethic with a deadline focus. Strong communication skills, including both verbal and email etiquette, are essential given the necessity to work with a broad range of stakeholders in this role.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for an Assistant Group Accountant to assist a team of three Group Accountants. You will assist with the analysis, reporting and delivery of high-quality financial information to a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the production of annual consolidated financial statements for the CUPA Group and UK incorporated subsidiaries.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the external year-end UK statutory audit including, but not limited to, the production and validation of supporting information for the external auditors.
  • Contribute to the production of monthly consolidated management accounts ensuring accuracy and compliance with the Group’s accounting manual and policies. This will include the posting of month-end journals and preparation of reconciliations and analysis to support these entries.
  • With the benefit of support and training, become a super-user of the Group’s consolidation system, SAP-BPC. Provide support and guidance to other SAP-BPC users within the business on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Contribute to the Group’s balance sheet review programme by attending online review meetings with overseas branches and challenging local finance team’s with respect to judgemental balance sheet items and their compliance with the Group’s accounting manual.
  • Ad-hoc support for senior finance personnel and contribution to ad-hoc finance projects as required.
