Description:

Do you have demonstrated leadership skills, all-around maintenance know-how and a passion for an outstanding guest experience? At Black Rock Oceanfront Resort, we’re looking for a hands-on Assistant Maintenance Manager that will help to oversee the Maintenance Team’s ongoing beautification, preventative maintenance, and repair of our property and buildings.
You’ll find us amongst old growth Cedars and the rugged shoreline of Vancouver Island in the traditional territory of the Nuu-chah-nulth people. Our highly committed Management Team makes decisions based on mutual respect, integrity, inclusion, and growth.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Proactively ensure the resort’s property and buildings are kept in safe and good repair, to meet or exceed guest expectations
  • Demonstrate leadership in the maintenance team, inspiring high service standards with appropriate coaching and mentoring
  • Assist with the administrative side of things, including staff scheduling, and cost allocations and purchasing
  • Locate, organize and inspect the work of contractors and specialists
  • Collaborate with the Management Team to build a seamless and impressive overall Guest experience

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated construction related knowledge in the areas of carpentry, general electrical, painting/ drywall, building envelope knowledge, etc
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of lift stations, small motors, pools and hot tubs, fireplaces & appliance repair, etc
  • Knowledge of pest control
  • Ability to use computer and software programs to make schedules, enter data, locate and order supplies and maintain communications
  • Previous team leadership experience
  • Previous hospitality experience would be an asset
  • Commitment to providing an excellent guest and employee experience
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with service providers; the knowledge to assess when their services are needed and when they are not
  • Ability to multi-task, stay organized and thrive in a busy service environment
