ABOUT US:

The Finance and Procurement business unit provides department-wide financial, procurement and workplace services through strategic leadership and setting the direction, policy, processes and partnering with the department to build capability.
The Finance Branch leads the department’s efforts to comply with government and legislative financial management responsibilities while driving a culture of strategic financial management across the department. It is responsible for the department’s financial and budgetary policies and processes, including statutory reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation compliance, government reporting (including Standing Directions), and facilitation of the annual budget process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A relevant tertiary degree/qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Assistant Manager, Financial Governance and Compliance uses contemporary practice and risk management mindset to find patterns, trends, and insights that inform and support decision-making, planning and process design.
The role drives strong governance, implementing a program that provides a holistic view of compliance levels within Finance to inform opportunities for improvement, guide risk appetite, and provide assurance that the Chief Financial Officer and Secretary continue to meet their obligations.

SOME OF YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Implementing finance-wide compliance framework/program to ensure Finance is meeting its obligations, including compliance monitoring and reporting for leadership awareness and action, to address non-compliance, including audit actions management
  • Co-ordinating strategic review and publication of policies, procedures and standards to ensure compliance with mandatory financial management policies and frameworks. Providing coordination, quality assurance and advisory function required to execute the Department’s annual compliance attestation process for the Standing Directions (under the Financial Management Act)
  • Coordinating department financial authorisation function for the department, including briefing Secretary and Ministers on required updates, and providing education/guidance to faciliatet compliant management of financial obligations.
