Description:

A member of the Diagnostic Imaging Leadership Team, with specific responsibility for operational management ensuring daily service provision. The post holder will manage and develop on a day-to-day basis the workforce across all sites within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust in conjunction with the Principal Operational Radiographer.
The post holder will provide the Principal Operational Radiographer with the support required to deliver an integrated, responsive, and effective diagnostic imaging service to patients and other service users across the whole health care community. They must ensure the activity of the department reflects the values of the Trust with the aim of improving the quality of the service delivered.

The post holder will participate in clinical duties to maintain registration, core skills and specialist skills as well as performing operational management duties.
The aim of the role is to support the operational leadership team, provide business continuity and succession planning.
The post holder will provide support to the staff on a daily basis, ensuring best clinical practice and full utilisation of the resources available. They will be on hand to assess and make adjustments to the patient pathway to enhance patient experience and ensure we give the best service possible to all our users.
They will work closely with the Principal Operational Radiographer and senior leadership team to ensure the department objectives are being translated into daily practice.
They must ensure the activity of the department reflects the values of the Trust with the aim of improving the quality of the service delivered.

The post holder requires excellent interpersonal skills to enable them to communicate in a clear and empathetic manner they also require persuasive and motivational skills for negotiating priorities during daily service provision. Also, highly contentious information to staff relating to imaging service provision, delivery and innovations, to ensure a quality patient service is maintained. This may require persuasive, motivational, negotiation, empathy and reassurance, where agreement or cooperation is required or where there are communication barriers e.g. where the client’s first language is not English, hearing impairment, educational impairment etc. Relevant counselling skills and understanding are vital. This relates to information and support for patients and colleagues; negotiating priorities during daily service provision, negotiation of service improvement requirements and dealing with Human Resource issues, disciplinary procedures, sickness management etc.
During clinical duties the post holder receives and provides complex and sensitive information. They will be required to use empathy, negotiating and motivational skills as there may be barriers to understanding. They need to establish good relationships with team members, use counselling and teaching skills.
The post holder will require motivational and persuasive skills to help promote proficient team working, and excellent communication skills to maintain effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure there is an effective flow of information relating to Diagnostic Imaging and promote mutual respect and understanding of professional roles and responsibilities
