Description:

To assist with the day to day running of Pathology IT across all operational sites. The post holder will be a point of contact for: -
Hardware and Software failures.
LIMs operational issues
Problem escalation
Production of change control documentation
Testing and installation of software
The post holder will be one of the team of Pathology IT co-ordinators that operate across CWPS sites including George Eliot Hospitals NHS Trust, South Warwickshire NHS Trust and University of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The post holder will assist with the provision and upkeep of the Pathology IT service, will be required to operate on other sites as and when required, and will keep the IT team appraised of all activities.

To provide timely first level IT support within the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Service (CWPS) including the running of diagnostic tests required to identify the source of a problem. To ensure clear precise documentation is available to assist others with problem identification and solution.
To offer first line IT support for Pathology IT equipment and other Pathology computer systems including internal and external interfaces. To communicate and work closely with section managers to ensure a timely resolution to problems.
To train on the main CWPS IT systems so as to be able to take part on the Out of Hours rota.
To log all errors with the Pathology IT Systems and Equipment and to ensure an accurate log of the error is recorded within Pathology. To progress chase the logs ensuring a timely resolution to the problem. To communicate and work closely with all interested parties including the Pathology IT Systems Manager and suppliers of third party systems including local NHS ICT services.
To perform daily house-keeping tasks on the CWPS IT systems as and when required, including the monitoring of site specific interfaces. To produce and update documentation to enable accurate logs of performance to be recorded.

To ensure the security and protection of all data produced by the CWPS by means of rigid backup procedures. To provide logs of all backups carried out on essential Pathology IT Systems such as servers and PCs.
To assist with the Pathology side of updating, maintaining and monitoring site specific links such as CRRS, Review and Anglia Labcomm. To communicate and work closely with ICT and the suppliers of these third party systems to ensure the interfaces are maintained and working efficiently.
To liaise with and be a point of contact for users of the CWPS computer systems (Consultants and GPs) regarding usage, development, planning and change. To participate in regular Pathology IT meetings and to attend, when required by the CWPS Systems Manager, meetings with external organisations such as equipment suppliers and local PCTs.
To be innovative and aware of IT developments within the Pathology service and the NHS. To regularly review the functionality of new software and hardware that would bring benefits to the CWPS. To communicate and work with the Pathology Systems Manager and other Pathology Senior Managers on services changes for the benefit of the CWPS. This to include changes to bring about efficient working practices and changes to support new developments such as new tests. Under instruction to assist with the development and production of outline business plans and project plans.
To assist with onsite Pathology IT systems key user and end user training. To co-ordinate site training programmes in conjunction with the CWPS Systems Manager and CWPS Training and Development Group. To assist section managers with the assessment and recommendation of external IT training courses for Pathology staff.
To assist with the setup procedures for gathering and presentation site specific information for billing purposes including Cat II, Private Patient work, work carried out for other institutions (including other hospitals), and information required for Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
To meet regularly with the Pathology IT and Information Manager and to review specific data requirements including the timely production of blood usage, private patient, and Minimum Data Set information.
