Job Description
The Assistant Payroll Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll. The payroll manager will support over 800 employees in multiple states and work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure payroll accurate and efficiency.
Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc.
- Preparing payroll budget analysis (Actual vs. Budget) ensuring that all employees are classified in their proper departments
- Oversee weekly and bi-weekly activities to include review of hours, voiding checks/ manual check as required
- Audit and reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
- Ensures compliance with all applicable multi-state and federal wage and hour laws
- Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable multi-state and federal wage and hour laws
- Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures
- Control tax tables, deduction codes and maintains the payroll control file
- Respond to payroll related inquiries
- Perform ad hoc analyses and assist on special projects as necessary
- Reconciles and processes invoices from third party labor contractors.
- Audits time sheets, pay registers and pay statements from labor contractors to ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations.
- Reconciles payroll liabilities and payroll bank accounts.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Advanced Education – Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Business field and 5+ years progressive payroll experience processing in house on a weekly basis. Or equivalent combination education and experience.
SPECIFIC KNOWELDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- Working Knowledge of labor laws, payroll regulations and best practices
- Knowledge of UKG, Kronos highly preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of Outlook and MS Excel (IF statements, VLOOKUP’s, Pivot tables, etc.)
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and customer service oriented.
- Self-starter and able to meet strict deadlines.
- Open-minded, flexible, and problem-resolution mindset.
- Ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000, and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
