Job Requirements - Must Have:

  • Third-Level Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum 6 years post-registration nursing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in a nursing home environment and management role.
  • Experience in leading, motivating, and supporting an effective and efficient team.
  • Proven clinical competence and passion for delivering outstanding care to older people.
  • Registered with An Bord Altranais and hold an active PIN.
  • Current and valid infection control, manual and resident moving & handling, and medication management.
  • Dementia, CPR, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults Certificates.
  • Post-registration qualification in gerontology or dementia care is preferred

Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Person in Charge (APIC), you will be responsible for leading and organizing the management of the nursing home, ensuring high standards of care and activities in line with best national and international practices. The APIC supports the Person in Charge (PIC) in managing staff, upholding the clients standards, and fostering respectful and equal relationships with residents. Your duties will include assuming the PIC role in their absence, providing leadership and clinical supervision, maintaining a person-centered caring environment, safeguarding residents, delivering high-quality care, ensuring adequate staffing, staying informed on nursing care developments, and fostering a positive learning environment. Availability for day, night, and weekend shifts is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a person-centered, caring environment that meets the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of residents through high standards of professional conduct and practice.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of residents from any form of abuse or negligence, and approach the suitable reporting mechanism.
  • Ensure the nursing home’s organization, sufficient staffing level, and high standard of care delivery.
  • Provide support and guidance to nursing staff, keep updated on changes in nursing care, and contribute to the development of professional practices and services.
  • Ensure accurate and timely written documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to the organization’s dress code.
  • Ensure high levels of sustainability and hygiene in the workplace.
  • Must be available for day, night, and weekend shifts as needed.
