Description:

Are you caring and compassionate, wanting to work in the innovative field of cancer nursing, providing excellent quality care for cancer patients during treatments, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy and also for those patients at end of life.
The 24 bedded Ribblesdale Ward provides 24 hour inpatient care for cancer and haematology patients. Working 12 hour shifts; 0700 – 1930 and 1930- 0700.

As an AP you will support the qualified nursing staff to provide high standards of care to our patients. You will be a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team and support the team with care, assessment and treatment of patients.
Quality of care is of the highest agenda for our ward and thus concentrated efforts are ongoing to ensure a positive patient experience from admission to discharge. The team are committed to teaching and supporting staff and are looking for these qualities in new team members.

Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards
Assist patients to meet nutritional needs in line with their individual care plan.
Undertake clinical duties relevant to clinical area following achievement of competencies.
Assist to maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines .
Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
Intravenous cannulation and venepuncture.
Asist in the treatment of suspected and confirmed neutropenic sepsis.
maintain confidentiality at all times.
Undertake observations, sign off and escalate any concerns in line with the New Early Warning Score (NEWS2)
Be a champion or link nurse (LD/safeguarding/sepsis/nutrition/bereavement)
Take samples from patients for testing or dispatching eg: Urine, sputum, faeces, MRSA swabs, blood sugar
