POSITION INFORMATION
Rutherford Public School 4561 (FOEI 129 ICSEA 924) was established in 1985 on the land of the Wonnarua People and is a large regional primary school catering to a diverse community of learners. The school is in the Maitland Principal Network, Regional North and West Education School Performance Directorate. The school’s current enrolment is 992, which includes students from diverse socio–economic backgrounds. 21% of students identify as Aboriginal. The school has strong ties with the Aboriginal community and a close association with the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). Rutherford Public School has a proud tradition of providing quality and highly successful programs in the creative arts, sports and extracurricular activities. Trauma informed practice and Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) are integral to the school’s student wellbeing approach, focusing on respect, responsibility, personal best and safety. The school values the input of community members through the Parents and Citizens’ Association. The school is well-resourced with a major school infrastructure upgrade completed in 2020. The school has made significant investments in Information Communication Technologies (ICT) to promote student engagement and access to digital learning.
