SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Physical Sciences Department seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry who’s primary teaching responsibility will be in the area of quantitative analysis and/or instrumental analysis. Additional courses in general chemistry and other classes related to the candidate’s area(s) of expertise.
The anticipated start date of this position is August 2024 at the earliest and January 2025 at the latest. However, these are estimated dates and can be revised as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Ph.D. in analytical chemistry
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
- previous experience in teaching chemistry to students at the undergraduate level
ADDITIONAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES TO BE CONSIDERED:
- recent experience in teaching analytical chemistry to undergraduate students.
- experience supervising undergraduate research or similar long-term projects
- plans for future research and instruction that fit the needs and resources of our department.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach in the area of quantitative analysis and/or instrumental analysis.
Additional courses in general chemistry and other classes related to the candidate’s area(s) of expertise.
Conduct scholarly activity related to the teaching.
Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in University committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time).
Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
