Position Information
This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
Candidates must have a terminal degree, such as a J.D. or Ph.D., in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely related academic field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
At least 10 years of relevant work experience in the field of criminal justice.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
Must be able to develop courses and the ability to teach a variety of courses across the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, the Department of Security Studies, and/or the Department of Victim Studies. Other service or training opportunities are expected across the academic year.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS SUMMARY
To ensure full consideration, applications must include a letter of interest, a current vita, Teaching Philosophy, and three (3) letters of recommendation.
Responsibilities:
The teaching load will consist of four (4) course sections each semester (fall and spring). In summer, the candidate may be selected to teach at least two (2) course sections. The courses will be taught online through Blackboard Ultra using Premium Distance Learning course format. The Premium Distance Learning (PDL) format consists of three 5-week parts of term each semester. In addition, some courses maybe offered face-to-face. The successful candidate will receive a nine-month contract for the academic year and may be issued a separate contract in summer. The successful candidate will receive full employment benefits offered by SHSU.
