Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in schedule development and implementation and assist the team in ensuring appropriate resources are in place, proper planning and execution plans are completed and objectives achieved
  • Lead estimates, develop execution plans and estimate schedule
  • Ensure the project’s key performance objectives (cost, schedule, safety, quality, environmental, owner satisfaction, and subcontract relationships) are achieved
  • Provide leadership in health, safety and environmental protection on the projects to promote overall compliance of Ledcor HS&E standards, applicable OH&S Acts, regulations and codes with all employees and subcontractors on the project
  • Identify and manage risks to achieve the best possible impact on schedule and financial targets
  • Assist in creating and implementing the Project Quality Plan, ensuring that quality of materials and work performed meet the standards in the approval documents
  • Oversee nonconformance report investigation and implement corrective actions
  • Request for bids from subcontractors, oversee RFI process, participate in subcontractor and supplier selection, procurement and negotiations
  • Ensure that all scopes of work are completed in accordance with all contractual and internal Ledcor requirements. Assist in contract and change order management
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Collective Agreement and act as a resource to other operational leaders in effective administration of the Agreement

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience required
  • Completion of post-secondary education in civil engineering/technology, construction management, or a related field
  • A professional designation like P.Eng, P.Tech, PMP or MBA is an asset
  • Experience in highway, infrastructure or bridge maintenance will be highly regarded
  • Understanding of change management process is essential
  • Exposure to Project Controls, progress tracking and reporting is essential
  • Strong communication skills with ability to interact confidently in verbal, written, and electronic formats
  • Demonstrated understanding of continuous improvement and management systems like ISO
  • Proficiency in quality management, including quality objectives, control and assurance.
  • Experience in leadership and execution of performance-based or end-product specification activities

Position Details:
This is a project-based role. Successful applicants will be expected to reside or relocate Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. As this is a long-term contract, success includes an ability to integrate effectively into their community and support the overall highway maintenance operations. A relocation package will be available to the selected candidate.
