Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 Assistant Psychologist to join the Adult Mental Health Specialty of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board on a fixed-term basis. The post has become available in order to support the provision of psychologically informed environments for those experiencing homelessness. This is part of Gwent BOOST – a project funded by the National Lottery to end homelessness in Gwent.
The successful applicant will be joining a thriving and forward thinking specialty which enjoys close links with the South Wales Doctoral Training Programme in Clinical Psychology and local courses supporting the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. We enjoy a very good reputation as an energetic and inspiring department with excellent levels of professional support and identity. Our trauma informed and trauma enhanced approach applies as much to our staff as to those that use our service.
We welcome applications from individuals who have previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist, who are motivated and able to use their initiative. We value and honour lived experience of psychological distress. Options for flexible working are available.
The post will involve delivering low intensity psychological interventions, conducting observations, engaging service users and assisting qualified Psychologists with assessments, interventions and evaluation of the project. The successful applicants will benefit from high levels of support and high quality supervision throughout.
This is a Pan-Gwent service so there will be a requirement to travel as part of the role.
The role will involve working with those who are often on the periphery of our communities and will involve work with Travellers, Asylum Seekers, refugees and those who have relied on substances to manage their distress. As such, there is exposure to adversity and applicants should be aware of this.
This post is fixed term until 31 March 2025 to cover the needs of the service
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
