The CAMHS Rapid Response Team are offering a new exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join the service in responding to and supporting young people and adolescents presenting in crisis in the community. The CAMHS Rapid Response Service is split into two functions. The assessing function delivers high-quality mental health assessments, and the Intensive Treatment Team delivers short-term intervention to young people experiencing mental health crisis. This role is for the Intensive Treatment Team function of the service.
This role will offer intensive short-term psychological interventions to young people and their families, while receiving supervision and support from senior Clinicians including a Highly Specialist Psychologist. This role includes delivering 1:1 individual psychological interventions as well as the facilitation of psychological skills groups, under the supervision of a clinical psychologist and other senior Clinicians. Applicants must have skills and experience in working with young people with a wide range of mental health difficulties and who present with challenging and risk behaviours and have ideally also worked with their parents/carers.
Delivering 1:1 sessions to provide support with distress tolerance and build emotional resilience. This could include providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions of a routine nature such as psycho-educational programmes.
Groups (such as DBT- informed) under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist and other senior Clinicians.
Offering intensive support (in the home & in community settings) to support families and young people, where there is a risk of placement breakdown and/or hospital re-admission.
Assisting in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all service users.
Attending and contributing to appropriate multi-disciplinary and psychology meetings.
To assist in the overall clinically related administration of the team such as conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audits, quality improvement and/or research projects.

Responsibilities:

Relevant CAMHS experience
Assistant Psychologist: an upper second-class honours degree or higher in psychology
Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
Further post-graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health will be beneficial.
