Description:

This is an exciting full-time position for an assistant psychologist to join our CAMHS CiC Team (West). Staff will mainly be based at Erlegh House, University of Reading and also undertake tasks with the three Local Authorities in West Berkshire, Reading and Wokingham, alongside Local Authority teams who are working with the CAMHS CiC Team. We are committed to offering flexible ways working wherever possible.
The CiC is being established to ensure that children who are in care receive quicker access to mental health support, by working in partnership and sharing knowledge. We effectively meet the needs of children and young people in care and their carers by providing evidenced based interventions that meet their need.
The service aims to improve life chances of CiC, by working towards increasing these resiliency factors:
Supporting trauma informed care
Creating stability of the Child or Young person’s home placement
CYP able to maintain a relationship with family members and work to be re-united where that is possible.
Fostering as strong an attachment as possible with the CYP foster carers or adults responsible for their care (if in a residential setting)
Reaching as high as possible Education achievements and
Creating local social networks, forming positive and meaningful relationships with peers and other adults.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of and contribute to a developing and innovative service.
To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist.
To undertake protocol-based service evaluation, which will include gathering data, using self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with professionals, clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care. To assist in assessments for the service.
To assist with other staff in clinical consultation and assessments and review care as required.
To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework for the understanding of patient care across all settings where care takes place including in a community setting.
To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings, referral assessments and multi-agency meetings.
To assist in the design and implementation of service development and quality improvement projects within the service as required.

Experience of working with young people with mental health difficulties/Learning disability
Passion for providing collaborative and evidence-based mental health care
Enthusiasm for multi-professional and multi-agency working
Ability to travel between multiple sites
