Description:
CONTRACT TYPE - FULL TIME, FIXED TERM CONTRACT FOR 12 MONTHS
We have an exciting opportunity for a new Assistant Psychologist to join our values driven Educational Psychology service.
Our team has grown over recent years and includes Senior EPs, Specialist Senior EPs, EPs, Trainee EPs and Assistant Psychologists. We also have dedicated admin staff who support our team. We are committed to ongoing development and applying psychology in creative and innovate ways to support positive outcomes for children and young people. We have a focus on promoting inclusion and wellbeing and engaging in preventative and early intervention work.
We are looking for a new Assistant Psychologist to join our team to support us in:
- Implementing a Trauma Informed and Attachment Aware project, using an action research approach with schools
- Delivering early targeted intervention to individual or groups of children and young people in schools (including Lego Building Group, GRASP, Managing Exam & Work Related Anxiety, Circle of Friends & an EBSNA intervention)
- Supporting whole school development work through our ‘Organisational Development Packages’
- Providing support to vulnerable children and young people through our partnership work with Power 2, Virtual School and Youth Offending
- Delivering our statutory, core and traded services to schools
- Developing and delivering training for schools, services and parents/carers
Our work is highly valued by the council, schools and other partners and we have a wide service offer which ensures that we provide an interesting range of work for Assistant Psychologists. Assistant Psychologists will receive regular quality supervision by a qualified EP and will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other Assistant Psychologists, Trainee EPs, qualified EPs and senior EPs. The allocation of work for Assistant Psychologists is flexible so that we can utilise individual strengths, provide opportunities for development and support progression on to the Child & Educational Psychology professional training course.
We are looking to appoint an Assistant Psychologist who:
- is creative, enthusiastic and passionate about applying psychology to ensure children get the best possible start in life
- enjoys working with children, young people, their families and schools
- is able to build good relationships and work well with others
- is proactive, dynamic and flexible
- has great communication skills, both oral and written

OUR WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empowers employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocation where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for ‘touch down’ space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
