Description:

The post holder will actively contribute to high quality patient care within both the pain psychology and HIV psychology services. This will include direct contact with patient and family/cares to deliver psychological information and low-level interventions on a one-to-one basis and within group settings, under the supervision of a clinical psychologist. The post holder will also contribute to effective multidisciplinary care within the wider teams through team working, attendance at meetings and involvement in research and audit activities. The post holder may give specialist advice, and provide training and teaching for different audiences, under the direction of a clinical psychologist and will be responsible for maintaining agreed standards, including record keeping.
The post holder will follow Trust and departmental policies, and comment on proposals when required. They will keep up to date with service and professional policies, procedures and standards. The post holder will be responsible for delivering training to other staff under the guidance of their supervisor. They will explain and demonstrate a range of learnt procedures to other team members in order to assist them to develop skills.
For example, providing training on psychological concepts to other professionals and participating in the departmental professional development schedule. The post holder will participate in service related research as guided by their supervisor. Under the guidance of a clinical psychologist, they will prepare, carry out and write up relevant research or audit projects, independently or jointly with other professionals. The post holder will maintain and store all patient records according to Trust and professional guidelines.
They will securely process and store private and sensitive information, write clear and concise clinical notes, and contribute to reports when required for different audiences (e.g. patients, carers, staff, professionals). The post holder will be responsible for the maintenance and care of the resources within their clinical services. The post holder will work within the code of ethics and the relevant professional practice guidelines of the British Psychological Society, as well as the policies, professional framework and standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Trust, under the guidance of weekly clinical supervision.
