Responsibilities:
The Trinity College Dublin Student Counselling Service is seeking to appoint an Assistant Psychologist (APs) to join the Counselling Team full-time for a fixed-term contract of 12 months. The Student Counselling Services (SCS/the Service) is comprised of Counselling, Student Learning Development (SLD) and Student 2 Student (S2S), all supported by a central Administration Team. The Counselling Team has three sub-teams with specific remits: Groups and Trainees; Outreach and Research; Training and Post-Graduate support. The Service delivers psychological therapy, social transition and academic skills services across the student body using a stepped care model. SCS contributes to the University’s key strategic objectives such as student transition and retention, accessibility, diversity and internationalisation.
The AP post gives an opportunity to develop a strong and varied skill set encompassing: brief assessments and referrals, outreach and prevention activities, group work, delivery of psychoeducational presentations, online work (including online service delivery and social media outreach), and research. Regular liaison with the College Health Service GP and psychiatry teams, academic staff and other student services teams gives good exposure to a multidisciplinary team approach to supporting students.
The role of AP offers wide ranging experience relevant to those interested in pursuing a career in clinical or counselling psychology. These posts offer the opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled team within an innovative service based in Ireland’s 1st ranked university. Weekly one-to-one supervision and group supervision are provided on site with a chartered psychologist.

Salary: This appointment will be made at the rate of €34,254 (increasing o €34,600 on June 1st 2024 with the public sector pay increase).
