Description:

Role: ASSISTANT RESIDENTIAL WORKER
Salary: £ 21,029.27 per annum (pro rata)
Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Contract/Hours: Permanent – Part Time 16 hours a week - (We are looking for candidates able to work a flexible 16 hours a week, these hours are completed generally over weekends and during school holidays, this will mean some weeks could be more one week and less another due to the shift pattern).

Responsibilities:

Chestnut Lodge is a 5 bed short breaks children’s home, providing short breaks to children and their families aged 8 to 18 years of age. The service supports children and young people who have various disabilities, where they can come and stay and have fun while their families have a break.
This home runs term time after school clubs and has residential services that runs at weekends and during school holidays. Young people get the opportunity to relax, have trips out and learn new skills while they are with us.
In the role of Assistant Residential Worker, it will be your responsibility to liaise with the children, young people, and their families to ensure that their care is always to the best possible standard. You will also be supporting them with all aspects of their care.

How you’ll help to create brighter futures

  • Supporting the service, we provide to children.
  • Supporting young people during their short breaks stay, including medication requirements, full training is provided.
  • Taking responsibility for the personal care and routines of the young people.
  • Supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Being responsible for the safeguarding of young people.
  • Link working with young people (managing paperwork and files).

Let’s talk about you.

  • Experience of working with children or young people (experience working with children with disabilities would be an advantage).
  • NVQ 3 diploma for children and Young People’s workforce social care pathway or equivalent is desirable, or the willingness to work towards this.
  • Working off your own initiative.A positive and confident approach to engaging with children and young people.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach to working hours (service open seven days a week).
  • A good standard of written English and the ability to make accurate notes for record-keeping purposes.
