An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cheltenham General Hospital Radiopharmacy team. The radiopharmacy is part of the wider Nuclear Medicine team of 16.6 WTE staff. This is an interesting and varied role providing support to the day-to-day operations of the Radiopharmacy providing pharmaceutical of Nuclear Medicine imaging departments.
The post holder will be required to work in an aseptic clean room with pharmaceutical isolators, following Standard Operating Procedures according to current Good Manufacturing Practices.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the team and support the existing staff within the Radiopharmacy and diagnostic imaging service. Applications are welcomed from candidates with a Pharmacy, Nuclear Medicine or Medical Physics background who possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
Nuclear Medicine is one of four departments within the Medical Physics department and there are strong links and support provided by the other Heads of Department and their respective staff. The Medical Physics Department is a strong advocate for staff training and development and is an accredited training centre for the NSHCS STP & HSST training schemes as well as the IPEM Clinical Technologist training scheme.

Job Purpose
To carry out a range of technical and clerical tasks in the Radiopharmacy and in the Radioiodine Suite.
All activities must be carried out in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures of the unit
Dimensions
The post holder is required to use a range of Radiopharmacy equipment safely e.g., isolators and contamination monitors.
The post-holder will be required to participate with assisting on the Radiopharmacy Rota.
The post holder will be required to contribute in the Radiopharmacy Quality Assurance system.
The post-holder will be required to comply with Ionising Radiation Regulation 2017 (IRR17) and Environmental Permitting Regulation 2016 (EPR)
The post-holder will be required to clean, decontaminate and re-set Radio-Iodine Treatment rooms
Key Results Areas
Assist with preparing the Radiopharmacy for dispensing; check & set up raw materials for aseptic preparation of radiopharmaceuticals; and performing pressure decay tests for all isolators.
Performing quality assurance tests on pharmaceutical isolators, clean rooms, and monitor the microbiological environment using specialised equipment
Participate in pharmacy audits, data recording & trending, procedure review and document maintenance under the direction of the Radiopharmacy Manager
Send off radiopharmacy samples for microbiological testing, sterility testing and monitoring for radioactive contamination.
Carry out regular stock checks of Radiopharmacy consumables. When stock is delivered check for completeness and put away the delivery appropriately.
Completing CAPA report forms as required.
Carry out and record daily contamination surveys and monitor waste during storage until disposal to comply with IRR 17 and EPR regulations respectively.
Clean, decontaminate and re-set the two radio-iodine treatment rooms in preparation for patient admissions according to procedures
