Role: Assistant Underwriter - Financial Lines Reinsurance (Credit/Political Risk)
Location: London
Position type: Full time, permanent
Our Assistant Underwriters are at the heart of everything we do, without them our business wouldn’t function.
The Assistant Underwriter is a key member of the underwriting team, the individual will have a level of authority in collaboration with the senior underwriters to help make sound underwriting decisions and contribute thinking and output to operational delivery of the strategy.
About The Job

What you’ll spend your time doing:

  • Assist in arranging and attending client meetings.
  • Assist in the pricing of risks and the development of pricing models with the aid of the actuaries.
  • Keep up to date with claims situations, liaising with claims team as appropriate.
  • Ensure all required risk documents are scanned onto the underwriting workflow system and indexed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Enter all risk details on to the underwriting system where required, ensuring high levels of accuracy
  • Ensure the effective development of client / broker relationships – beginning to demonstrate a good understanding of the clients and the market in which they operate and how we can best meet their needs, or drive their risk needs.
  • Manage all queries in a professional and efficient manner
  • Represent MS Amlin at corporate / networking events, ensuring that the MS Amlin values and behaviours are upheld at all times
  • Remain alert to developments affecting the business of the class. Report on such matters, as appropriate.
  • Participate in the monitoring of premium payments and liaise with Brokers and CRT where necessary
  • Assistance with redevelopment of exposure management and aggregate capture work taking ownership of this process going forward
  • Conduct role in accordance with the Company’s Business Ethics policy and all regulated entities as appropriate

This role sits within our Reinsurance Franchise at Lloyd’s (MS AUL) which specialises in Mergers & Acquisitions and Property & Casualty across London, the Middle East, the Far East and continental Europe.
Conduct Rules

With the implementation of the SM&CR (Senior Managers & Certification Regime), the Financial Services and Markets Act gave the FCA new powers to write conduct rules and apply them to all employees within a firm.
