Assistant Underwriter
S Insurance AS is a privately owned insurance agency specialising in Marine Insurance. The company was founded in 2015 and today holds a substantial and growing portfolio, a large and robust network of international partners and is a member of The Nordic Association of Marine Insurers (Cefor).
S Insurance AS underwrite both marine insurance and reinsurance business with the objective of connecting capital providers with growth opportunities in selected markets. Our success is based on high levels of broker and client service, having a transparent business model, and ultimately benefiting from long-term relationships.
The company is regulated by Finanstilsynet and represent several insurers and reinsurers under long-term agreements.
We are now seeking a self-driven team player to join our Underwriting Department. The position is based at our office in Oslo and directly overseen by the Chief Underwriting officer. The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in the Shipping industry, is able to build and maintain longstanding relationships, and has a keen interest in risk evaluation and insurance products within the marine marketplace.
About you
You are highly motivated and a confident person with a large capacity for work. You have a commercial mindset and enjoy a dynamic work environment. You are flexible and are not faced by rapid changes. You are reliable with a high attention to detail and able to work independently as well as part of a team. You have strong communication and negotiation skills and is service minded.
Relevant experience within the international marine insurance markets and or the marine industry is preferred.
The operational language is English, however fluency in Norwegian is mandatory, while proficiency in other languages, like German, is considered advantageous.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in shipping/maritime or equivalent. In addition to formal education, we recognize that relevant work experience can be equally valuable and are open to candidates who can demonstrate their expertise through practical application in the field.
Excellent written and oral skills in Norwegian and English
Strong working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft products in general

Responsibilities:
Assisting our existing client base on a day-to-day basis on processing business.
Further develop relationships to brokers and clients and make sure policy administration is up to date.
Work closely with Underwriters and assisting them in their activities relating to policy renewals, submissions and market activities.
Some travelling will be required.
