About The Role
The Assistant Vice President, Claims works as a liaison and claims advocate between internal and external clients and adjusters to ensure optimal claims handling, and superior claims service on complex commercial claims. This is a great opportunity for an Insurance Lawyer, Claims Adjuster or Commercial Underwriter with a complex claims background. This role is based in our downtown Toronto office and reports to the Vice President and Ontario Claims Leader. Travel is required at times for client meetings.
What You’ll Do
Providing support to HUB International Commercial Complex Risks clients on all claims related matters throughout the entire claims process and to advocate on behalf towards a satisfactory claims settlement.
Providing guidance to internal teams on the claims process and building knowledge and capability through reporting for large clients, generating loss run reports and advising on general claims questions.
Providing support pre-loss, during a loss and post-loss by providing claims counselling and engaging experts as necessary.
Analyzing claim trends to ensure alignment with loss control procedures.
Effectively analyze and interpret policy wording.
Working closely with the Commercial Complex Risks, Risk Services and National Practices
Providing status updates to Client and Account Teams and providing appropriate consulting and guidance where required.
Acts as a mentor to other members of the Claims Practice
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date electronic claims files through Epic.
What You’ll Need for Success
Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma or equivalent experience
Requires 5+ years in a claims role with a broker, insurance carrier, independent adjuster
Experience with complex commercial claims required i.e. multinational
Strong customer service orientation (internal and external)
Self-starter and strong initiative
RIBO Licensed, FCIP/CAIB Designation an asset or in progress
Computer Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail and ability to manage requirements of the role effectively
Effective communication, negotiation and presentation skills with clients up to the C-Level/President
Bilingual in French and English an asset
Travel: 25% for client meetings
